Maria's campaign is people-powered. She is not supported by a data center billionaire nor a fancy lawyer who is the brother of a far-right Republican congressman. Maria is a dues paying member of the Missouri Democratic Party.

While Maria hoped to send her mailers to the entire 1st District, some areas were not able to get a mailer.

Over the years, the St. Louis County Council has had numerous opportunities to curb reckless spending through the budgeting process. Instead, they have chosen to spend taxpayer dollars as if the county has unlimited resources. The result of this disjointed approach to governing now falls directly on the pocketbooks of every St. Louis County resident.
