SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS.
REAL CRIME PREVENTION.
Every family deserves to feel safe in their home, their neighborhood, and their community.
Keeping our communities safe requires holding elected officials accountable and ensuring that law enforcement has the resources necessary to investigate crimes, prosecute offenders, and protect the public.
Maria believes public safety is strongest when we address both crime itself and the factors that contribute to it. Research has consistently found links between crime and challenges such as poverty, unemployment, lack of opportunity, untreated mental health issues, and inadequate social support systems. Effective public safety strategies address both enforcement and prevention.
Maria supports fully funding law enforcement and working collaboratively with police, prosecutors, community organizations, and residents to reduce crime and improve public safety. She believes communities are safest when law enforcement and residents work together toward common goals.
Maria is also committed to protecting women and children from exploitation and human trafficking. She believes every available tool should be used to identify predators, support victims, and hold offenders accountable. The safety of our children must always be a top priority.
In addition, Maria supports practical traffic safety solutions. Reckless driving, distracted driving, excessive speeding, and impaired driving continue to threaten lives throughout our region. She supports data-driven traffic calming measures, safer road design, and collaboration between local governments, transportation agencies, law enforcement, and residents to make streets safer for everyone.
Public safety is about more than responding to crime after it occurs. It is about preventing crime before it happens, supporting families, investing in communities, and ensuring that every resident can live, work, and raise a family without fear.
Because every life matters.
And every family deserves to feel safe.
